Microsoft recently released Windows 8 Developer Preview and introduced excellent applications with this pre-beta version. All integrated applications have a predefined personality guide that matches the Metro style.
Let’s take a look at some of the Windows 8 applications.
Socialite is a Metro-style application platform for Facebook with a touch interface. Its home screen contains tiles for news feed, profile, photos and friends. The tiles randomly select relevant images from your profile and display them on the home page. Click on the Friends tile to open the Friends list in alphabetical order. The news feed, opens friends feeds.
Tweet@rama is a Twitter application that facilitates tweeting and tracking other tweets.
Weather is a magnificent and breathtaking example of the typography of metro applications. It sends the current weather situation with an animation that corresponds to the weather situation of the location in the background. You can select your current location in the settings and share the screenshot with the Share charm of the system interface.
Picstream uses the Flicker API to stream images. The images are displayed in the tiles when the program is running in the background.
Windows 8 tiles are used instead of traditional icons and play an important role in system design. Program updates are displayed in the tiles themselves. Whether it is a stock exchange change, an alarm notification or a Twitter feed, these updates are included in the tiles.
