After upgrading your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 PC to Windows 10, you may want to check if your copy has been activated. This post will show you how to check the activation status of Windows 10 OS, activate Windows 10, change the product key in Windows 10, and correct the error code or do not work.
Activation is the first process in which a Windows running on a PC is properly licensed and authentic, and it is really fast and easy. It differs from registration in that activation is the process that ensures that your copy of Windows is used in accordance with the Microsoft software license terms, while registration is the process of entering information to register for product support, tools and tips and other product benefits.

When you upgrade to Windows 10, the new operating system inherits the product key and activation details from your old operating system. These are then stored with your PC data on Microsoft servers. If you clean the Windows installation the first time, you may experience activation problems. If this is the first time you upgraded, enabled Windows 10, and then installed on the same PC, there is no activation problem because the operating system retrieves the activation details from Microsoft servers.
Check the activation status of Windows 10
To check the activation status of Windows 10 , follow these steps :
Open Start > Settings > Update and Security.
In the left pane, select Activation. Here you see the activation status.
If everything went well, Windows 10 should take your Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 product key and activate automatically.
Enable Windows 10
If your Windows 10 is not enabled, this message will show you how to enable Windows. Additional links are also important at the end of this article. You can activate Windows online or by phone.
Change the Windows 10 product key
If you want to change the product key of your activated Windows 10, click the Change Product Key button. Enter a product key in the window that opens.
If the license is genuine, Windows 10 registers it and tries to activate it automatically online.
If this copy of Windows is not genuine or if Windows activation fails, or some problems, see this post that shows you how to correct Windows 10 activation errors.
