DBAN or Darik’s Boot and Nuke is a utility to erase your hard disk. If you plan to sell your old computer or only the hard drive, it is in your best interest to delete all your files and tracks and safely delete the hard drive before giving it to someone.
The tool is a bootable ISO image that you can burn to a floppy disk or USB stick and boot from the device to safely delete all files from the drive. Once you format your system and reinstall the operating system, it won’t be difficult.
Booting from boot mode makes the process very safe and can certainly clean all tracks, but there is also a check mark. The user interface of this application is not user-friendly. But, the utility offers many help menus to explain each operation, and the workaround for this tool.
If you want to know what DBAN is, you can get all the information by pressing F2. The F3 key takes you to the fast commands supported by DBAN. However, you can start with the Enter key. You will be asked if you want to perform Quick Erase, where all data is erased in a minimum of time. But remember that quick erase is not as effective as full erase. You will also see the’Number of passes’ option. This option repeats the cleaning cycle over and over again and ensures that no data recovery is possible. The application promises
DBAN prevents all known techniques of forensic analysis of hard disks. It does not provide the user with proof of deletion, such as a verifiable deletion report.

If your computer normally crashes, it is likely that DBAN will also crash with a kernel panic or reasonable error. DBAN does not work on computers with bad hardware.
DBAN does not currently recognize hard disks in the RAID array.
