There is a new cookie type in town. It’s almost impossible to erase. It is stored in several places and, if found, can be rebuilt and stored anywhere. EverCookie is an open source JavaScript API that generates extremely persistent cookies in a browser. The objective is to identify a customer even after deleting standard cookies, flash cookies (local shared objects or LSO) and others.

Evercookie does by storing cookie data in different types of storage mechanisms available in the local browser. In addition, if evercookie has determined that the user has deleted any of the types of cookies in question, he will restore them with any available mechanism.

When creating a new cookie, the following storage mechanisms are used, if available:

  • Standard HTTP cookies
  • Local shared objects (Flash cookies)
  • Silverlight isolated storage
  • Storage of RGB or automatically generated cookies, Force-bufferered PNGs using HTML5 Canvas tag to read pixels (cookies)
