It is always necessary to know the basics before moving on to advanced topics. HTTP means HyperTText Transfer ransfer Protocol. It is the system for sending and receiving information between the server and the client. The server is the machine where your website code resides, and the client is nothing more than your browser. HTTP manages the mutual understanding between the server and the client to successfully exchange information or data. The first HTTP had only one method called GET that requested a page from the server and the response was an HTML page. The latest version of HTTP defines nine request methods.

When you visit a website, the address can be prefixed with HTTP://, which means that your browser is now connected to the server via HTTP. Now HTTP is not the safest way to connect, but the problem with HTTP is that it is vulnerable to people who want to listen or see what it is about.

This shouldn’t be a problem if you’re just browsing any website or doing bingoing, the problem occurs when you make a financial transaction over the Internet. As we all know, the Internet is not exactly a safe place. In addition to searching and browsing websites, we must handle financial transactions, online purchases and secure file transfers. So how do you secure such financial transactions? The answer is HTTPS.

What is HTTPS

HTTPS or Secure HTTP is a combination of hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) and SSL/TLS protocol. Now everything you communicate through HTTPS is sent and received in encrypted form , which increases security.

As when a client makes a request to the server, the server responds with a list of encryption methods. When the client connects to a website via HTTPS, the website encrypts the session using a digital certificate. Secure Sockets Layer or SSL uses a cryptographic system that encrypts data using two keys, meaning that the browser and server send each other unique codes that are used to encrypt the rest of the call.

Https is used in many situations, such as login pages for banks, forms, corporate logins and other applications where data must be saved. It is always recommended never to enter credit card information on websites that run on HTTP.

Difference between HTTP and HTTPS

HTTPS requires an SSL digital certificate

No HTTP encryption; data is encrypted in HTTPS before sending and receiving.

I hope this has corrected the difference between HTTP and HTTPS. If you have any questions or comments, please comment.
