Enable, disable automatic update of Internet Explorer 10

Internet Explorer 10 is configured by default to automatically download and install updates. However, if you wish, you can prevent Internet Explorer 10 from automatically installing a new version. You can have your own reasons – but if you want to disable the automatic update of Internet Explorer 10, you can do it easily.

To prevent Internet Explorer 10 from automatically installing a new version, open IE and open the About dialog box .

You can now see a check box to enable or disable the automatic update of Internet Explorer 10. To disable them, disable Automatically install new versions.

Then click Close and Exit.

Internet Explorer no longer installs new versions automatically.

Automatic updates only offer Internet Explorer 10 automatically to users with a local administrator account. If your organization wants to block the installation of Internet Explorer 10 for any reason, you can try the Internet Explorer 10 Blocker Toolkit or use Microsoft Windows Server Update Services.
