You are trying to connect to a server that is a member of an Active Directory (AD) domain and receive the error message “The Security Database on the Server does not have a Computer Account for this Workstation Trust Relationship”. Although the computer is removed from the domain and added to the domain, the error message continues.

A computer can lose confidence in the field for several reasons. The most common reasons are related to the DNS and the network. A domain member computer must be able to resolve DNS with its local AD servers. It must also be able to communicate with AD servers via the different network ports used by AD.

How to repair it:

Computer Account from Active Directory Users and Computers

Delete the corrupted Computer Account from Active Directory Users and Computers, delete the server from the domain and connect the server to the domain.

1. Log in to the Domain Controller using the Domain Administrator account. Press the Windows + R logo, type dsa.msc, then press Enter to open Active Directory for users and computers.

2. Select the organizational unit (OR) where the computer object is located.

3. Right-click on the computer object and select Delete.

4. Click Yes to delete the computer object.

5. Log in to the server using the local administrator account. Press the Windows + R logo, type sysdm.cpl, then press Enter to open System Properties.

6. Click on Edit.

7. Click Workgroup:, type a workgroup name, then click OK.

Checking the time and date settings on the Client PC

The wrong time and date on your computer is not recommended and it is not something that someone should intentionally do. However, some users restart their BIOS or make changes that change the time and date and forget to configure it correctly. This is enough to solve the problem, so make sure you check that everything is fine.

Checking DNS and firewall problems

change-dns

If there are problems with your current connection to the server, you may need to look for DNS or Windows firewall conflicts. They often cause network problems, and you should absolutely try the following steps to define some Windows firewall rules and reset DNS addresses.

Search for “Command prompt” by typing it directly into the Start menu or by pressing the search button next to it. Right-click on the first entry that appears as the search result and select Run as administrator from the context menu.
You can also use the combination Windows Logo Key + R Key to access the Run dialog box. Type “cmd” in the dialog box that appears and use Ctrl + Shift + Enter for the administration prompt.

Type the following commands in the window and make sure you press Enter after typing each command. Wait for the message “Operation successfully completed” or similar to find out if the method worked.

  • netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=”network discovery” new enable=yes
  • ipconfig/flushdns
  • ipconfig /registerdns
