Enable or disable image password connection under Windows 8

Security is the most important concern of our computer systems for almost all of us, because we do not want to allow others to illegally access our data. To improve the security of your computer, Microsoft has assigned the image password function. We have already seen how to configure a password or PIN code in Windows 8.

This article explains how to enable or disable the password login function of the image. In fact, image password login is enabled by default, so this article will help you do this if you want to disable it.

Disable image password connection with registry editor

1 Press Windows + R simultaneously and set regedit in the Run dialog box.

2 Navigate to next location :


3 Now right-click in the right area of the window. Create a DWORD value and name it BlockDomainPicturePassword.

4 Right-click the DWORD value created above and select Change. You’ll get this window:

5 You can now use the following values for the value data of section (16) :

Enable image password login =’0′ (default)

6 This is it. Restart to see the results.

Disable image password login with Group Policy Editor

NOTE : This group policy usage option is only available in Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 Enterprise editions.

1 Press Windows key + R combination and place gpedit.msc in the Run dialog box.

2 In the left pane, navigate to :

Computer configuration -> Administrative templates -> System -> Connection.

3 Now, look in the right pane, you get the policy named Disable signnn-in image password as shown above.

4 Double-click this policy to open the window below.

5 You can now make the following settings :

Enable image password connection = Disable/unconfigured (default)

Disable image password connection = Enable

(After changes, click Apply followed by OK.

That’s it. Restart to see the results.
