GoPro is a popular small camera that is mainly used for adventure photography. The GoPro camera is widely used because of its versatility and can be mounted anywhere. If you have a lot of GoPro hardware on your camera that you want to view, edit and share with your friends, you must first transfer it to your computer. However, there may be a case where the computer does not recognize the camera when you connect the GoPro camera via USB.
How to repair the GoPro camera is not detected when it is connected to the USB port:
If your computer does not recognize the USB connection, it may be one of the following:
- There’s a loose connection somewhere.
- The USB cable is defective.
- There is a compatibility problem with the SD card.
- It is not clear where to find the contents of the camera or SD card on the computer.
- There’s a problem with the camera itself.
Please follow the following steps:
- If you are using an older HERO3+ or older, make sure the Wi-Fi is turned off before connecting the device to the computer.
- Make sure the camera is on when connected and display the USB icon on the front LCD monitor to indicate the correct connection to the computer.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable from the camera and computer, making sure that both ends are fully inserted and secured.
- Try restarting the computer and reconnecting the camera, and if that doesn’t help you and you have access to another computer, try the additional computer. If you leave the camera on for a while, it can sometimes connect properly.
Restart the computer and GoPro.
Sometimes technology just needs a break. The first thing you should try is to turn off your computer. When your computer is off, unplug the GoPro and turn it off as well.
Leave the GoPro off, then connect the camera to the computer while both are off. Then start your computer with GoPro off. Once the computer is turned on, turn on your GoPro if it is not automatically turned on.
Check the USB cable
Cables are subject to wear and tear. If you have not updated your computer, GoPro or a new SD card, your USB cable may have failed. If you have another camera or smartphone with the same USB connector, try using the same cable and check that the other device is connected.
If the device connects, there is no problem with the cable. Or, if you have a USB wall plug converter, check if the USB is charging your GoPro connected to the wall.
Open troubleshooting for hardware and peripherals.
First, open Hardware and Device Troubleshooting in Windows 10, which can solve many problems with connected devices, such as GoPro cameras. Users can use this troubleshooting as follows.
- Connect the GoPro camera to a PC.
- Open Cortana by clicking the Type button here to search the taskbar.
- Type “troubleshoot” in the search field and click on Troubleshoot.
- Select the hardware and device troubleshooter listed in the Application Settings and click the Troubleshoot button.
