Fix No Audio or Sound when playing games on Xbox One

Another common problem with the Xbox One is the sound from the Xbox One. Some users report that the sound is very quiet, missing or simply coming from a speaker. The Xbox One uses an HDMI cable and an optical audio cable to send sound to an HDTV or home theater, and this is the first place you can check to see if you have this Xbox One problem.

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller twice.
  2. Scroll to the left to the menu, select Settings, then select All Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Display and Sound, select Volume, then Chat Mixer.
  4. Make sure that the Mute all other sounds setting is selected. If this is the case, select another setting (e. g. reduce the volume of other sounds by 50%).

Check the cable connections

  • Make sure your HDMI/Optical connectors are connected.
  • Check that the cable is not damaged.
  • Replace the cable ends or use a different HDMI cable.

Troubleshooting audio problems with applications and games

OK, so everything about audio works except applications and games when the voice chat is active. The best option is to customize the chat mixer. To do this, press the Xbox key of the controller, then go to System > Settings > Display and Sound.

Then, the user must select Volume > Chat Mixer, then select one of the available options.

Troubleshooting sound problems with an audio-video receiver

Some of us tend to connect the Xbox One via an audio receiver connected directly to the TV or computer screen. Sometimes, such a device can have problems with the sound output, so the user has to do a few things to do things right.
