After updating Windows from build 1703, Windows 10 detects disk error 0x8004de40, which is reported by many users. Users will see this error code along with the message: “There was a problem when logging into OneDrive” with the option to “Retry”. This error indicates that the app is malfunctioning or has problems connecting to Microsoft’s cloud servers. Eventually, users’ access to the app is restricted and blocked. In most cases, connectivity problems in apps are the result of an unstable Internet connection. However, in this case, any other app with an Internet connection works fine, with the exception of OneDrive. The error notification looks like this:
