Side by side configuration is an error when opening Windows Live Messenger

When you run Windows Live Messenger, you receive the error message Description : The application could not be started because its configuration is incorrect. Please refer to the application event log for more details Your Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable package may be corrupted. This article explains how you can try to correct these types of errors.

Step 1:

Uninstall Windows Live Messenger programs and functions.

Step 2 :

Uninstall Microsoft Visual C+++ 2008 Redistributable Package of programs and functions.

Step 3 :

Run SFC /SCANNOW to ensure all system files are intact. After the scan is complete, reboot the system. It is also recommended to run CCleaner to remove temp and pre-extraction.

Step 4:

Download and install the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable and Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Service Pack. Once we have installed it, we download the Windows Live package, install Messenger and launch the application.

Let’s see if it works!

If the above steps do not work, follow the manual method of troubleshooting and removing Messenger instead of removing Windows Live Messenger from the Control Panel.

If several programs with this configuration side by side crash, the error is false and the above steps do not help, then it is quite possible that your operating system has been corrupted. In this case, trying to fix Windows 7 may be a good idea.
