Windows Store applications cannot be updated under Windows 8

One of the features of Windows 8 is the availability of Windows Store applications. There are now tons of applications and new applications that are regularly added to the store by developers from around the world. I have people with problems where they can’t install. Either the installation has failed or the status has been pending for a very long time. After some research, I find that there are mainly two methods to solve this problem. In this article, we will discuss these two methods.

Windows Store applications cannot be updated

Method 1

In this method, we perform native troubleshooting Windows Update Troubleshooter to resolve this problem. We must run the Fix problem with the Windows Update package to fix this problem. Here is how

  • Go to the Windows Modern UI screen and type Control and click Control Panel (or) Press Win + R to open Run and type Control and press OK.
  • Under System and Security, click Find and solve problems.
  • Click Windows Update Troubleshooting.
  • Simply follow the assistant. When it is finished, reboot the system and test it again.

Windows Store applications are not updated

Procedure 2

The following method is to exclude firewall or third-party application conflicts. To do this, you must reboot the system in Selective Boot or Startup Diagnostics. Here’s how:

      • Press Win + R to open Run and enter MSCONFIG.
      • In the General tab, select Selective Startup Startup and on Load Startup Elements.
        • Now click the Services tab 12 and uncheck the option Hide all Microsoft Services.
          • Click Disable all, then simply check your wireless adapter.
          • If you are unsure about your WiFi adapter, press Win + R to open Run and enter MSINFO32.
          • Then expand Components -> Network -> Adapter and you should find it on the right side.
          • Now click OK, reboot your system and test it.
          • Once finished, you can return to Normal Startup.
