Fixing BSOD Error SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE

SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE and other errors in the Blue Screen of Death are often caused by defective hardware, and sometimes these errors can be difficult to correct. Since these errors can cause so many problems, it is important to know how to correct them correctly under Windows 10.

The SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE but check has a value of 0x000000DA. This indicates that a page table entry routine (PTE) has not been used correctly.

The blue screen error is due to hardware problems, such as incompatible devices in your computer. One possible cause may be damage to the system file.

Update Windows 10 and all your drivers.

Microsoft regularly releases new updates for Windows 10, and many of these updates include new features, security enhancements and bug fixes related to hardware and software. Installing the latest updates may not fix the errors in your Blue Screen of Death, but it is a good practice if you want your PC to remain stable and secure.

Remove external devices.

If you have external devices connected or installed on your PC, such as an external hard drive or USB stick, unplug them all (leave your mouse and keyboard connected) and restart your computer.

When the error stops, reconnect your external devices, one at a time, and then restart your PC. If you get the error again after a certain device, you already have the author. You can either replace this device completely from your PC or update its driver as described in patch 3.

Perform the hardware troubleshooting.

You can try to perform a hardware troubleshooting to find the errors on the blue screen. To do the same, follow the steps below to solve the problem.

  1. Open the Settings menu and click Update and Security.
  2. In the left menu, click on Troubleshooting.
  3. In the right pane, select BSOD and click Troubleshooting.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the troubleshooting.

Verify that the problem with the blue screen error SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE has been fixed. If it remains the same, you can continue the troubleshooting steps.

Try to disable PIT security in the BIOS.

If you are using a Dell computer and it causes this type of blue screen error, you should go to the BIOS and disable PIT security and see if this helps to solve the problem.

  1. During the start-up phase, press the F2 key to access the BIOS.
  2. Once in the BIOS, go to the Security tab and the PIT Security section.
  3. From there, clear the PIT On check box to disable PIT security.
  4. Now restart your computer and check if the blue screen error is fixed or not.
