Does the Dead by Daylight (DBD) continue to take off at startup or does it close on your desktop while you are in the middle of the game?
It is very frustrating and you are definitely not alone. Many players report it, but the good news is that you can fix it. Here is a list of the fixes that have proved useful for many players.
Update or repair the video card drivers
If the game Dead by Daylight departs after a graphic driver update in any way; a rollback may be sufficient until a new corrected driver is released. You should also update the graphics device you are playing the game with each time a new driver is released, as new versions often tend to fix problems with crashes!
- The first thing you should do is uninstall the driver installed on your computer.
- Enter “Device Manager” in the search box next to the Start menu button to open the Device Manager tool. You can also use the Windows Key + R shortcut to open the Run dialog. Type in the devmgmt.msc field and press OK or Enter.
- Expand the “Graphic Maps” section by clicking the arrow next to it. This will display all video cards that your computer has just installed.
Meets the minimum system requirements
To successfully launch Dead by Daylight, you need to make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. Otherwise, you will have to play the game on another computer.
Here are the minimum system requirements to run Dead by Daylight:
- Operating System: 64-bit operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 8.1)
- Processor: Intel Core i3-4170 or AMD FX-8120
- RAM: 8 GB
- Video card: GeForce GTX 460 1GB, compatible with DX11 or AMD HD 6850 1GB
- DirectX: version 11
- Memory: 25 GB of free space
Run DBD As an Administrator
Many users report that having administrator rights for the game executables solves the problem of failure. Go to the game properties in Steam and click the Local Files tab. Click “Browse Local Files” and a new window will open with the options. Go to the “Compatibility” tab and check the “Run this program as an administrator” box.
Disable Steam Overlay
Steam overlay can also cause problems and errors in Dead By Daylight. Disable Steam Overlay in game properties in Steam. You can find this option in the “General” tab. Uncheck the “Activate Steam community in the game” box.
Disable Nvidia overlay
There may be compatibility issues that cause Dead By Daylight to fail. Disable Nvidia Overlay, as the game may sometimes fly out.
Check the DBD Game Files
If the above solution does not work for you, some game files may be damaged, which will cause the Dead by Daylight to fail. So you should check the integrity of the file by opening Steam.
To do this, right-click the game> go to the properties and from there go to the tab “Local files” > check the integrity of the game files.
Logout of Steam and login again.
If none of the above fixes worked, log out of Steam and log in again to fix the bug with the 8014 code. To do this, click the account number> and then click “Logout”.
Now restart Steam and enter your account name and password. Restart the game and see if the problem has been solved.
