If NordVPN cannot connect to the server for you or if you have problems starting the application, read this full article because it will solve your problems 100%. We have some very detailed troubleshooting instructions for Windows.
Here are some general tips if you cannot connect to the NordVPN application.
- Be sure to try at least a few different NordVPN servers.
- Log out of your account in the application and log in again. Try to reconnect.
- Uninstall the application, restart your device and reinstall the application. Then try to reconnect.
- If you are using a computer, try to disable the antivirus/firewall software you are using. Sometimes they interfere with VPN connections. Then try to establish a connection.
- Try using a different connection method or protocol for your device.
Windows 10 has not been spared by NordVPN. However, it seems that this is no longer a specific problem with the operating system, but a problem with the customer himself.
Check the Event Viewer
If the problem persists, it would be a good idea to check your event viewer to see exactly what the problem is. If the client continues to provide the same results, the Event Observer should record the process step by step.
Look for inconsistencies with the underlying network or activities that could affect NordVPN.
However, the Event Observer should give you a more detailed analysis of what you are dealing with.
Please try to make the following changes to our VPN software:
1. click on our icon in the system tray or menu bar.
2 Disconnect the connection to the VPN.
3. Right-click the VPN icon again and click Settings.
4. click on the Advanced button.
If the connection type is set to TCP, change it to UDP. If it already contains UDP, do not make any changes to this setting.
Change the remote port to 9201, click Save, then log in again. See if you can find out if the problem remains.
Check your login details
Make sure your username and password are correct; this is the most common configuration error. To do so, visit the NordVPN website and log into your account. Once you have confirmed a successful connection to the NordVPN website, enter the VPN settings of the connection information router.
The connection between your computer and the VPN server is established via a network connection to your computer. You can consider this port as a physical port; your computer routes traffic from the VPN server to a particular port and traffic from other locations to other ports. It helps to separate traffic from different sources.
Although you may think that each port is as fast as any other, you may be surprised if you find it useful to occasionally change the port to which your VPN is connected. Some ISPs slow down traffic on some ports, and sometimes you will find that some ports are faster than others for no apparent reason. Try switching your VPN connection to different ports to see if they are faster.
