Does the voice chat not work in Fortnite? Don’t worry about it. Although it’s incredibly frustrating, you’re certainly not the only one with this problem. Thousands of players have reported the same problem recently. More importantly, you should be able to repair it fairly easily.
Although Fortnite is undoubtedly the biggest game in the world today, with millions of players registered every day, it is not without problems, as shown by the new error “Fortnite Voice Chat Not Working”. The successful Epic Games project, still called “Early Access”, has its excuses because it is not technically a fully polished version, and problems are to be expected.
Update your sound card driver.
A missing or obsolete sound card driver can also prevent the chat from working in Fortnite.
There are two ways to update your sound card driver: manually and automatically.
Manual update of your sound card driver – You can manually update your sound card driver by visiting the manufacturer’s website and searching for the latest driver for your sound card. Be sure to select the driver that is compatible with the exact model of your sound card and Windows version.
Choosing the right audio device
You may not know this, but your PC has several different options for audio output. There may be several different devices that can be used. If you have selected the wrong audio device, you may not be able to transmit your sound correctly through your microphone. In these solutions, we navigate to the sound parameters and select the right sound device.
- Start Fortnite and turn off your voice chat and press to talk. It’s temporary and you can reactivate it later.
- Press Windows + S, enter “sound” in the dialog box and open the Control Panel.
- Now click on the Recording tab, right-click on the audio device you are using and set it as the default device. Also make sure it is activated first.
- Save and exit the changes. Restart your computer and check that the problem is solved.
Changes in the Registry
Another solution that worked for many users was to make changes to the registry elements. Fortnite has had this problem for some time and after each reported incident, a new update is published to fix it. However, many users reported that changing registry keys fixed the problem.
Press Windows + R, enter “regedit” in the dialog box and press Enter.
If you are in the Registry Editor, navigate to the following address:
You can also search for epic games using the search bar above.
As soon as you have found the directories, delete them individually.
After deletion, restart your computer and try to start Fortnite. Check that the voice chat is working properly.
The only solution we can recommend is to unsubscribe and re-register for the game. If this does not work, you must uninstall and reinstall Fortnite Mobile.
