The IT environment is constantly changing, but some of its services and products are not. I refer to Google Reader – A service that started in 2005 to make it easier to discover and monitor their favorite websites, but quickly lost popularity and use, forcing Google to announce its closure as of July 1, 2013, so many people are looking for alternatives to Google Reader or RSS readers.
As a result, many are now looking for good alternatives or replacements for Google Reader. Take a look at the RSS readers mentioned in this post. These services allow you to easily collect and organize messages and information from websites without having to visit them individually.
Google Reader Alternatives & Replacements
You can choose a desktop RSS reader or an online RSS reader, depending on your needs.
Desktop RSS Reader
GreatNews is a fast and free desktop RSS Reader that supports reading entire pages, giving you total control over the number of articles displayed simultaneously. One of the strong points of this RSS reader is that it has an integrated display style with which you can avoid blinking ads and banners and thus offer a clear layout for reading. You can also import and export all your subscriptions and use labels to organize your items.
GreatNews comes with many RSS feeds included. You can check them and remove the ones you don’t want. This freeware requires neither.NET nor Java Runtime. Everything is included in the installation files.
RSS Owl is a multi-platform service, i.e. compatible with several operating systems. With the free and powerful news reader, you can search for keywords, group entries and feeds in the style of a newspaper (side by side on multiple tabs). If you wish, you can save the selected information in different formats for viewing and sharing offline. There is even an internal browser that helps you open all the content of an article from a feed. We need JRE.
Online RSS reader
Feedly is available as mobile application. It is also available as an extension or add-on for most browsers. It can be used as a Firefox extension or as a chrome extension. It can also sync with your Google Reader subscriptions. If there is an item on one device that you want to store on another device for later playback on another device, you can do so easily. This gives you a better way to organize, read and share content from your favorite sites. Take a look at our article on Feedly Tips & Tricks.
NewsBlur. If necessary, you can store stories on a variety of services such as Evernote, Instapaper and more. With NewsBlur, only stories that interest you can be highlighted. Rest can be hidden. In short, you can let the service learn your preferences.
(1)(1)RSS Miner has an interface to which you get used. Use the reader to import your Google Reader subscriptions. You will find a sidebar whose content changes when you click on a specific message.
