Windows 10 introduces a new way to develop Windows 10. You no longer need a developer license to develop, install or test your applications. You can only activate your Windows 10 device once for these tasks and off you go. In this article, we see how to activate the developer mode under Windows 10.
Enable Developer mode under Windows 10

Open the Settings > Update and Security application. Click For Developers on the left. Now select Developer mode
You are asked to confirm – Activate developer mode? Click Yes and the developer mode will be activated.
You can also use the Group Policy and Registry Editor to do this.
Use GPEDIT
Open the Group Policy Editor and navigate to the next parameter :
Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Application Package Deployment
You must edit and enable the following two policies :
- Allows you to develop Windows Store applications and install them from an integrated development environment (IDE).
Using REGEDIT
Open the registry editor and navigate to the following buttons :
- HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAppModelUnlockAllTrustedApps
- HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAppModelUnlockAllowDevelopmentWithoutDeVLicense
Now set the value of both DWORDs to 1.
To verify that the developer mode is enabled, run PowerShell in administrator mode, type the following and press Enter:

You see the confirmation in the last line – This device is already in developer mode. You can now run page loading applications.
