Adding links to Instagram Stories can have a massive impact on the number of your Instagram followers who become paying customers. So it’s worth taking a few minutes to learn how to make the magic work!
You can post photos and videos and even go live, and the content of your Instagram Story stays at the top of your subscribers’ feeds for 24 hours.
But the cool thing about Instagram Stories is that if you have a verified account or have a company profile with over 10,000 followers, you can add a pull-through link to your story.
This is extremely useful for directing Instagram traffic to your brand site, your latest blog post, a sale item or even a gift!
The answer to the question of how to add a link to an Instagram story lies in one of Instagram’s ingenious features, the so-called “Swipe-up” feature.
When this feature was introduced, Instagram marketing reached a whole new level.
For the first time, Instagramers were able to add another link that their followers could click on and be directed to another page.
In the past, Instagram only allowed you to add a clickable link in your biography.
You could have added a link to an Instagram caption, but these links did not take you to another page.
This was one of the biggest problems with Instagram as a marketing tool – clients simply couldn’t click on a link to see a product.
This meant that you, the business owner, had to hope that a potential client would take the trouble to leave Instagram, open a browser and manually browse the existing link.
Having to go through all these steps is a major challenge for a client.
According to statistics, 49% of consumers believe that ease of access to a product is the most important factor in good online customer service.
Use a Link Service to Present Multiple Links
When Instagram became popular with marketers, liaison services were widely used – then their popularity declined. They are now back, with more design possibilities and a smoother user experience.
You can choose from several different formats. The classic link service is similar to Linktree, where a list of clickable buttons is presented to its followers. The children’s workspace uses Linktree to direct users to their latest blog posts, activities and the Amazon shop.
Choose a style and color palette that matches the aesthetics of your Instagram articles and stories. If users click and find something that looks completely different, they will lose confidence in your brand.
The Good Quote uses a consistent color palette for its Instagram messages and link tree page.
You can also choose a service that more closely resembles a native Instagram experience. Instead of pressing text buttons, users are presented with an Insta-like grid of photos, as in the example below. As they type on the photo of the post that initially caught their attention, the link service redirects them to the appropriate page on your site.
Some services, such as Later’s Linkin.bio, include video links, photo carousels and even workshop integrations.
Just be aware that these photo carousels can be data killers. Make sure the link service you choose works on a variety of mobile devices and that all links work. In theory, the experience should be flawless.
Stories provide a unique opportunity for businesses to attract the direct attention of the public and potential customers, increase traffic and stimulate sales.
50% of Instagram companies worldwide have created at least one story in a typical month.
If your goal is to increase traffic to your site, Instagram offers you the opportunity to add links in your stories.
