In Windows 10/8/7, to run a program, usually right-click the icon and select Run as administrator. Then you give your consent to the UAC prompt. While you can do the same under Windows 8, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 offers another simple way. You can start programs directly from the home screen with administrator rights. Right-click the program tile and select Run as administrator
from the bottom menu bar.
If you want certain programs to always run as administrators, you can configure them to do so. With this tip, you can always run applications as an administrator and always start or run a program or software in administrator mode.
Run the program as administrator
To do this, correct the program icon or application shortcut and open the Properties field. Click the Compatibility tab.
Select field Run this program as administrator. Click Apply > OK. This setting only applies to the current user.
But if you want to apply the’Always run as administrator’ setting to all users, then click Change setting for all users. Another dialog box opens. Check again box Run this program as administrator. Click Apply / OK.
This is also useful for resolving legacy application compatibility issues that require administrative privileges.
If you wish, you can also start programs automatically as administrator.
