One of the administrative problems with running an active discord server is that managing old messages can be a problem, especially if you need to delete flammable or unacceptable messages. Although most people think Discord is a voice chat-based application, the fact is that Discord’s text chat functions are widely used. Discord competes with communication applications such as Slack, Skype and others, and although Discord focuses on games, the application is actually used as an enterprise level chat client.

How to Delete Multiple Messages on Discord

  1. Go to Discord and log in.
  2. If you are connected to Discord, go to the “Settings” section of your profile.
  3. Then click on “Appearance” and activate the developer mode (normally it is enabled by default, but check anyway).
  4. Now go to the chat you want to delete, it can be on a server channel or in a private conversation. For example, I will choose a private call, but I know that it works everywhere and only for your messages. The messages of your correspondent are not deleted.
  5. Click on the three small dots to see the options and click on “Copy Recognition”. Keep this ID in a safe place, it will be essential for the rest of the tutorial. Also note that all messages that precede the message you have selected will be deleted.

Cloning a channel

If for any reason the MEE6 alternative does not work for you, the last way to delete all messages in a channel is to clone the channel. This essentially creates a new copy of the channel, but does not copy it to the old channel message history.

  1. Create a list of the robots you have on the channel, because cloning a channel does not always copy them.
  2. Right-click on the channel you want to clone.
  3. Select Clone Channel.
  4. Rename the cloned channel if you want.
  5. Click on Create Channel.
  6. Delete the old channel.
  7. Open the new cloned version and add all the necessary robots.

Cloning a channel also brings all your users and restores everyone’s permissions, saving you the time you would otherwise have to spend on it. All messages from the old channel have now disappeared and your new channel has the same settings.
