Facebook has officially announced that its new native desktop messaging application for Mac and Windows is available worldwide and that anyone can download and install it now.
Facebook told us that they designed the new application from the ground up to look like a true native application, not just a simple browser-based application with all the features expected of a real application.
Features are designed to mimic the feel of using Messenger on your smartphone, including dark mode, group video calling and notifications, but optimized for your computer’s larger screen. The application is available in 49 languages from launch.
The desktop version of Messenger is very similar to the web version in that you can browse your messages and share things like GIFs, photos, documents, emoji, stickers, videos and other files. But you can’t play games on Facebook, create reminders or send money as you can on Messenger.com.
