So you’re trying to get the job done as quickly as possible. However, there is still a lot of online research to do. You then access your browser and enter the URL of the website you want to visit. However, your browser automatically fills in the URL with an address you have already visited or entered incorrectly. You always mark the long URL to delete it. Isn’t it annoying if your browser automatically suggests URLs?
To delete self-complete chrome suggestions
- First enter the first letters of the URL in the URL bar – “www.am”.
- From there, Chrome should automatically suggest the wrong URL.
- Make sure the URL is highlighted and press Shift + Delete (Windows) or Fn + Shift + Delete (Mac) on your keyboard to delete the suggestion.
- After deletion, Chrome will continue with the next available proposal.
It’s a simple process, but it’s really useful if you make a stupid mistake.
How to delete auto-complete suggestions in Firefox
Mozilla Firefox also offers users the ability to automatically delete suggested URLs in a variety of ways. Similar to Google in its Chrome browser, Mozilla’s developers simplified this process, but at the same time they went further and added a function to remove all information from a particular site. Here are the two ways to automatically remove suggested URLs from Mozilla Firefox:
- Open Firefox
- Enter the URL you want to delete in the address bar or in a part of the URL.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate to the URL you want to delete.
- Press Delete or Shift + Delete to delete the entry.
To delete self-complete suggestions in Microsoft Edge
You can’t do that.
In fact, in Microsoft Edge, you can’t really delete your unpleasant and automatically suggested URLs.
But what you can do is simply delete the data from your browser.
How to delete auto-complete suggestions in Opera
Opera’s method for removing URLs is very similar to that of Internet Explorer. Highlight the URL in the address bar and look for an’x’ on the far right. Click on it and the URL will be deleted.
In Opera, this method only works for pages in your history. No suggestions from your favorites or your default search engine will be taken into account. As with most browsers, the suggestion remains in the address bar after being removed from the drop-down menu, but a short highlight and a flashback will delete it forever.
