Update: Stop getting error messages and slow down your system with our optimization tool. Get it now at this link

With Windows 10, you can preview web results in Cortana without opening your browser. Previously, this language assistant also displayed the results of the query, but it led Microsoft Edge with bing search. But now you can find the same stay in Cortana in an additional flyout on the right.

One of the main problems after the Windows 10 v1903 upgrade is that the Cortana web preview does not work as expected. Microsoft has replaced the unified search where you no longer need to use Cortana. However, Cortana still has some great features, one of which is Web View.

Each time a user enters a search query such as a mathematical expression, they open a web view to display the results with Bing. But some users report an error when this web view is not displayed, and it seems corrupted. The user must click on the Open link in the browser. In this article, we will see how to correct this error.

Displaying indexing statistics

Search Windows is a new page available in the Application Settings, and it includes new features and options that were previously available in the Control Panel to manage various aspects of the indexing process under Windows 10.

To view the current indexation status from the May 2019 update, do the following:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on Search Window.
  3. Click on Browse Windows.
  4. See the Indexation Status section.

Once you are on the configuration page at the top of the page, you will see the indexing status of your device, which tells you how many indexed items and items have not yet been added to the searchable list.

Restart the Cortana process.

The Windows 10 Search Start menu is integrated with Cortana. If something goes wrong with the Cortana process, the research results will not work properly either. Therefore, first restart the Cortana process and Windows Explorer as follows.

Right-click on the task bar and select Task Manager or use the Ctrl-Shift-Esc key combination to open the Task Manager. Click More Details to display the full view of the Task Manager. In the Process tab, locate the Cortana background host task. Right-click on it and select Finish the task. The same applies to the Cortana process.

Locate Windows Explorer again, right-click and choose Restart. The above action restarts Windows Explorer and the Cortana process. Now try to find something in the Start menu and see if it works.
