Error code 9039 is not specific to a single device type. The error code appears when a user makes a purchase from the iTunes Store. It doesn’t matter whether you’re searching for specific content or trying to download a specific file or the store.
The process might stop in the middle if you’re unlucky enough to encounter this error code. Error code 9039 is not specific to a single device type. It occurs on both Mac devices and PCs running Windows. Apple Music or Homepod users may also see the error code.
Apple does not have a specific solution for the error code. This means that there is no single solution that is sure to work for you. However, we do have a few troubleshooting methods that you could try. They work for the majority of users and could help you as well. Log out of your iTunes Account
Begin troubleshooting by logging out of iTunes:
- Account > Connecting and disconnecting from iTunes.
- Exit iTunes and reopen iTunes.
- Sign in again by choosing Account > Sign in.
Update your Computer or iTunes
Install updates for your Mac. If you’re using MacOS Mojave or earlier or a Windows PC, get the latest version of iTunes for your computer or get updates from Microsoft.
To update iTunes on Windows 10:
First of all, when an update is available, iTunes usually tells you. Every time you open iTunes, it checks for updates, and if it finds one, it opens a pop-up window prompting you to update.
You can also check for updates manually. Here’s how it works:
- Open iTunes.
- Click Help in the menu bar at the top right corner of the window.
- Click Check for Updates.
- If an update is available, a pop-up window appears. Click Download iTunes to get started.
- In the Apple Software Update window that appears, make sure the Update box next to iTunes is checked, then click Install 1 item. Accept the update when Windows asks you to confirm it.
- When the program download is complete, click “Yes” to restart your computer, which you must do to install the update. Conversely, you can choose “No”, but iTunes will not be fully updated until you restart.
Removing Songs from your Music Library
If this error occurs when you try to add music to the Apple Music Library, and you have many different playlists that you have received externally, you may receive error code 9039 from iTunes because you are currently exceeding the 25,000-song limit that Apple applies to music purchased outside of iTunes.
Remember that this number does not include purchases made on iTunes.
If you think this scenario is applicable, the only viable solution is to remove some of the music added from outside to bring the total number of external items below 25,000. Then restart iTunes and repeat the action that caused the problem before, and see if the problem is now solved.
The iTunes Error Code 9039 usually appears when Windows or Mac users try to connect an Airplay device to iTunes or when they try to add music to the Apple Music Library. This error code is displayed after the connection attempt fails.
