The “Push-to-talk” function will not work if you have not selected the correct record or keyboard shortcut profile. This means that your microphone will not detect anything when you try to speak with your “Push-to-Talk” hotkey, because it has not been activated. Therefore, the “Push-to-Talk” feature will not work and your friends will not be able to hear you. In general, if you have set up your recording profile to use another device, it will be reset to the default option. This can happen when you try to connect to another server or when you start Teamspeak after rebooting/shutting down your system.

Disabling Voice Activation

With TeamSpeak, you can combine both actions at the same time. However, in some rare cases, voice activation completely blocks the action of push-to-talk.
Why is that? There’s no real explanation for this. You can only hope that the next software patch will fix the problem.
You can check if this is the case for you by first disabling voice activation and then trying push-to-talk.
Check your Capture Profile
If the push-to-talk function does not work as it should, the first thing to do is to check your acquisition profile. In general, the problem is a wrong profile selection in the capture settings of your Teamspeak installation. If your Teamspeak is using the default device (i.e. the built-in capture devices) instead of the correct capture device, you will not be able to communicate with other people in the channel.
To resolve this issue, you must ensure that the correct capture device is selected before connecting to the server, or the correct profile if you created one for your convenience. To do this, follow the instructions below :
- In your Teamspeak window, click on the “Self” option in the menu bar.
- In the drop-down list, select the capture profile.
- If you are using the default profile, make sure it is available. If it does not exist, simply click on the Tools option in the menu bar and select Options.
- The Options window appears. Switch to the Capture tab.
- Select the correct capture device or capture profile.
Preventing the “Deaf Room”
TeamSpeak is still one of the most popular voice chat programs. This is partly because they have a team of dedicated developers working on fixing the bugs that appear from time to time.
So, if you were unable to fix your push-to-talk option with the above fixes, you may have to wait for the next update.
