Terraria is an adventure game developed by ReLogic, which also contains some action. The game hit Windows in 2011 and since then it has been developed and distributed on other platforms. Unlike other games, Terraria is also available for smartphones.

However, Terraria continues to take off at startup or is permanently locked on the desktop during the game. You are not alone. Many players report that you are not alone.

But do not worry. Here is a general guide to troubleshooting problems associated with Terraria failures. You might not have to try them all. Just look through the list until you find one that works.

At first it seems that the problem is related to the last patch, so the developers will study it. The bug report has already been sent. So if you have the patience to wait, it might be your best choice. If not, you can try the following: None of them will work guaranteed, but each of them has been reported at least once as a temporary solution:

Disable Mods in Terraria

Before trying any other troubleshooting methods, let’s first check if your mods conflict with Terraria. Mods are third-party plug-ins that change the gameplay by adding customizable graphics or actions compared to the standard game. These modules allow the player to receive more pleasure from game and do its more adjusted. However as mods are not regulated, we faced set of cases when they contradicted and broke the basic game process.

January 2021 Update:

We now recommend using this tool for your error. Additionally, this tool fixes common computer errors, protects you against file loss, malware, hardware failures and optimizes your PC for maximum performance. You can fix your PC problems quickly and prevent others from happening with this software:

  • Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
  • Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
  • Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.

Third party developers support and release versions of the mods, which should mainly be synchronized with the version of the game in which you play. When these two options are not synchronized, there are many problems, including a failure of the game. You can physically copy and paste the mods in the same place, and after disconnection check if the problem is solved.

Temporarily disable the antivirus program

Sometimes your problem is caused by antivirus software interference. Temporarily disable the antivirus and see if the problem persists to see if it is not a problem for you. (Refer to your antivirus documentation to find out how to disable it).

If Terraria works correctly after you disable the antivirus software, contact the antivirus software manufacturer for advice or install another antivirus solution.

Pay special attention to websites you visit, open emails and files you download when your antivirus is turned off.

Run the game as an administrator

Due to limited access Terraria sometimes does not have full access to download the game files.

Therefore, you must provide the necessary access to the game. To do this, you must open the game Terraria with administrator rights. To do this, right-click on the game file and select “Run as administrator”.

Step 1: First close Steam, and then right-click the Steam icon on your desktop.

Step 2: Now go to Properties.

Then go to the Compatibility tab.

Step 3: Now click Run this program as administrator> click OK.

Step 4: Restart Steam and see if the problem persists.

If none of this works, you will probably have to wait for a fix. If you are lucky with a workaround that we haven’t mentioned, let us know in the comments. We will update the manual as other possible fixes are discovered.
