The service codes are displayed on the control panel. The service codes alert the user when a normal service interval or consumable replacement is approaching or has been reached.
When the message “Consumables are about to be replaced” is displayed, a letter is also displayed to indicate which color is soon to be replaced.
BK Black (or K)
There is no need to replace the toner when the “Toner Feed is low” message is displayed, but it is recommended that you make sure you have another toner container at hand. If you continue to use the device without changing the toner container, the message “Replace the toner container in delivery” will appear on the screen and the device will stop printing.
Store the used toner container in a plastic bag (do not throw it away). Your service technician will pick up the used toner container.
To display an estimated amount of remaining toner, press the [COPY] button constantly during printing or when the machine is in standby mode. When the button is pressed, the percentage of toner remaining on the screen is displayed. When the percentage drops to “25-0%”, get a new toner container and keep the toner ready for replacement.
- DK Replace the black drum unit. The maintenance counter has reached 90% of the set value
- VK Replace the black developer. The maintenance counter has reached 90% of the set value
- TA The maintenance counter (Total) has reached 90% of the set value.
If one of these codes is displayed on your computer, please inform your service provider. They indicate that a maintenance interval is unavoidable. The device will continue to print normally. After the service has been performed, the service provider resets the counters to zero and the codes are no longer displayed. In some cases, when these codes are displayed, the machine may be configured to stop printing.
Use the Troubleshooting Tool
- Press the Windows key + R key combination to open the Run dialog box.
- Type the control in the dialog box and press Enter.
- In the “Search” area of the control panel, you will be prompted to enter troubleshooting information.
- Click the troubleshooting link displayed.
- In the next window, click the Show All button.
- Scroll down to the printers.
- In the next screen, click the Advanced button.
- Select “Run as administrator”.
- Click Next and follow the instructions so that the troubleshooter can check for potential problems.
You can also ask the troubleshooter to look for other problems that interfere with the use of the printer. It comes with three different tools: Printer, Windows Network Diagnostics, and Hardware and Peripherals.
It also tries to solve all problems automatically. If your printer does not appear in the list of printers connected in the troubleshooter, make sure it is connected and enabled, and then try again.
Turning the printer off and then on again
Before the service provider reboots the developer to the development unit, you can also use the good old trick of turning off the printer and restarting it when you can no longer use it as usual.
- To turn it off, just click “Turn it off”. If your Sharp printer doesn’t respond to any press of the power off button, press and hold the button for about 5 seconds. Normally the message “Please wait” will be displayed when the printer is turned off.
- When the printer is completely turned off, disconnect the printer from the PC. Allow it to rest for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect it and turn it on. Now try to print again.
