Update: Stop getting error messages and slow down your system with our optimization tool. Get it now at this link

If you receive a blue screen error (also called a stop code), it means that your PC is suddenly shut down to protect against data loss. If you see the text “WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR”, a hardware error has occurred. It is usually caused by an overclocked CPU, driver conflicts, hardware problems or corrupted system files. In the worst case, the problem is so terrible that you cannot access your PC.

This is a bugcheck generated directly by the CPU. Most of the time, it is caused by an incorrect CPU voltage. This can happen because incorrect settings are made on the BIOS (often the BIOS is reset to the default settings or the BIOS Help is updated). (The power supply voltage regulators or mainboard voltage regulators are about to fail.

Below, we will guide you through some important steps that will help you recover your PC.

Check the device drivers

Driver Verifier

If you have recently installed a new driver, make sure it is compatible with the Windows version you currently have on your computer.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Windows +C buttons to open the Charm bar.
  2. Enter Device Manager in the search field.
  3. Determine if corrupted drivers from the installed driver list are installed. You can do this by scrolling through the list, and if there are errors, it will appear under the driver name.
  4. If no errors are reported in the Device Manager, update the software of the last driver installed. To do this, right-click the driver and select Update Driver Software.

The most common solution for whea_uncorrectable_error is to disable overclocking of your BIOS.

To do this, simply follow these steps :

  1. Open the Start menu and go to Settings.
  2. Go to Update and Security, then the Restore tab.
  3. When the Advanced Start screen appears, click Restart Now and your computer will restart.
  4. When you start Advanced, go to Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options and then UEFI Firmware Settings.
  5. Click Restart.
  6. After the computer restarts, it should automatically open the BIOS, so go to the Advanced tab.
  7. Navigate to Performance and search for overclocking.
  8. Save the changes in the BIOS (by pressing F10 on your keyboard) and start your computer normally.

Run CHKDSK and Windows Memory Diagnostic

The hardware or memory problem is also a cause of WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR in Windows 10, and the CHKDSK command is used to detect problems in the hardware. While Windows Memory Diagnostic is used to detect memory problems. You can start CHKDSK from the command prompt, but here I’ll show you an even easier way.

The following fixes can apply to all computers, regardless of the Windows version installed.

Tip #1: Check the cooling system.

Make sure your computer is properly cooled.

Tip #2: Cleaning and/or removing hardware

Try removing unimportant hardware parts from your computer and restarting the system to check if a particular hardware causes the error.

Make sure your computer is not connected / turned on!

You can also try cleaning your computer’s hardware, for example the RAM socket if possible.

Tip #3: Reinstalling Windows

If the above tips don’t work, and the Windows specific instructions don’t work either, to fix the error, try reinstalling Windows.
