Restart Android Phone/Windows 10 Computer

Sometimes the best solution is the most obvious. Many software and even hardware problems can be easily solved with this simple update. And some users reported that after restarting their Android device or computer, they finally managed to solve the problem that their Android device was not recognized by Windows 10. So it doesn’t hurt to try.

Try another USB cable

Even if the cable you have is not that old, it is still a good idea to try another USB cable. The cable you have at your disposal can only be used for recharging if you need it for file transfer.

The cable may be damaged and may come from the factory. It is also a good idea to avoid cheap imitation cables and choose original cables from the same brand as your phone.

Enable USB debugging

According to the experience of many Android users, enabling USB debugging can sometimes help to solve this problem. So you can do it with Android 4.2 to Android 8.0:

Go to your Android “Settings” -> press “By Phone” -> press “Create Number” seven times -> go to “Developer Options” -> enable developer options and USB debugging -> press “OK” when the warning message appears -> check if your Android is recognized.

Loading Android as an MTP under Windows 10

If your Windows 10 can detect your phone, but only for charging, you must configure the USB connection in MTP mode. On most Android devices, a notification should appear in the notification bar when the device is connected to the computer via a USB cable. The notification allows users to connect the device as a multimedia device (MTP), USB stick or simply for charging.

However, sometimes there is simply no such notification. This may be a setting error, and you may have set the connection mode to Load only and checked “Do not save”. To fix this error, you can go to Settings > Memory > Others (Menu) Icon > USB Computer Connection and select Multimedia Device (MTP).

But you may not find the “USB connection to the computer” on some current Android phones. In this case, you can try to delete the configuration data from the application manager and reconnect the devices.

If the above solutions do not solve your problem, please post it in the comments below.
