How to Recover a Lost or Forgotten Steam Account Password

How to Retrieve the Password to your Steam Account?

You can quickly and easily recover your Steam password for your account from the Steam help page. Just follow the steps below:

  • Go to the Steam Support page.
  • Enter your Steam account name, email address, or phone number, enter the verification characters, and then click Search.
  • Assuming you have access to the email address associated with your Steam account, click Send Account Verification Code to Email Address.
  • Enter the verification code you received, and then click Next.
  • Select Change my password.
  • Enter your new password twice and click Change Password.

You should now have recovered your forgotten Steam password, and you can log into your Steam account to play!

Reset Steam Password with Steam Guard

The Steam Guard feature offers 3 options to provide you with the access code to your account and reset your password. One of the defaults available after registration is Steam Guard authorization using the email address you used to create the account.

The guard will ask you to enter the code every time you change systems, browsers or devices, even if you have your password. If you wish to reset the code using the email address, simply click on “Forgot your password? This is the first step to recover your Steam password.

Once there, confirm that you have forgotten your password and click on “I forgot my Steam account name or password”. Here you can enter your email address, account name or mobile phone number.

Whichever you choose, the result will be the same. It simply depends on the service you use to reset your password. You will of course receive the email containing the code. With the phone number, well, you assume that you will receive the SMS with the code.

Contact Steam Support

If you are unable to complete the self-rescue process, Steam Support will verify that the account belongs to you and restore it for you.

If you contact Steam Support, try to provide as much information as possible:
