Microsoft plans to inform users of the company’s Windows 7 operating system on January 15, 2020 that system support has ended. The company plans to display a full screen pop-up on Windows 7 PCs from January 15, 2020.

Many Windows 7 users will receive the following “Support for Windows 7 is ending” pop-up screens, which are often displayed when their computer is in use:

Windows 7 support is coming to an end.

Please note that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows 7 after January 14, 2020. We recommend that you back up your files to facilitate the transition.

What happens when Windows 7 support ends?

If you continue to use Windows 7 after the support expires, your PC will continue to operate, but will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses because you will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to a new PC running Windows 10 before January 2020 to avoid the need for a service or support that is no longer available.

We recommend that you upgrade your computer to Windows 10 before Windows 7 reaches its support end date. After this date, Windows 7 will no longer receive security updates and will be vulnerable to security attacks. Windows 10 is a more secure operating system and receives regular updates and feature updates that bring new features and improvements to the operating system.

Applications can always receive updates.

Just because Windows stops receiving updates does not mean that the applications you use stop receiving updates. It all depends on the application provider and when they decide to stop supporting Windows 7.

Some may have already stopped. Others will stop in the future. All you have to do is keep an eye out for program updates that matter to you.

One day, these updates will stop. It is up to you to decide if you are interested.

If you do not want to update your PC in the meantime and stay on Windows 7, the following simple methods will help you disable and delete reminders and end-of-support notifications from Windows 7. It blocks and prevents Windows 7 from showing you these annoying end-of-support notifications.

Disable the pop-up window End of Windows 7 support.
