This error message on your computer screen indicates that the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) BIOS of the computer system is not compatible with your Windows system and is not fully certified according to ACPI specifications.
Normally, this will cause a sudden system shutdown or an unexpected restart of your system. Blue error codes such as 0x000000a5 are the most serious and dangerous errors that Windows can encounter.
To resolve the BSOD error 0x000000a5, try the following methods:
Starting in the last known good configuration
This should be the first thing you should try, because the simplest and most effective solution is to correct the stop error 0x000000a5. Perform the following steps:
- Restart the computer.
- Wait for the computer to complete the POST process (the system information will appear on your screen).
- Press the F8 key until the list of available start options is displayed.
- Select Last known good configuration.
- Press Enter
- Wait until your computer starts in this mode.

Using the system restore process
Perform system recovery from the Advanced Options screen if the automatic repair method did not work for you. To do this, you must follow these instructions:
After booting your computer with a Windows DVD disc or system repair disc, a black screen with gray text “Press any button to boot from the CD or DVD” appears. Press any key.
Select an exact time and type of keyboard.
Click on the Repair icon on the computer in the lower left corner of the screen.
Select the “Troubleshooting” icon in the “Select Options” screen that appears in front of you.
Click on the Advanced options located in the Troubleshooting window.
Finally, simply select the System Restore icon.

If all else fails, here are some other things to try that seem to have worked for other people:
- Check the BIOS settings, set USB to USB 2.0.
- Set all BIOS compatible settings to Legacy and XP/Win7 and not Win8/10 or UEFI.
- Reset the default BIOS settings, then try the BIOS settings above.
- If you have an LPT option in the BIOS for a parallel printer port, try setting it to LPT=Enabled and ACPI & PnP=Enabled and APM=Disabled.
- Try to disable ACPI in the BIOS.
- Try to change all BIOS CPU options (Safe Execution, VxD, etc.).
- You can also try an older version of the BIOS (newer versions may only have been made compatible for Win8/10).
- If you have already added additional RAM to the system, reset the memory to its original configuration and size (and test the memory with a memory test program – the problem may be due to defective or unsuitable memory!
