Some users have indicated in the forums that their monitors have a yellow color after Windows 10 updates. Does your Visual Display Unit show a yellow plaster? If this is the case, it may be a hardware problem; or you only need to adjust some display settings on Windows.
Screen discoloration problem can be a material problem.
How to solve the problem of yellow discoloration:
Turn off the Night light
Did you accidentally light the “night light”?
If you are using Windows 10, select the notification icon at the bottom right of your screen. Then, “Expand”, if it has not already been done, and make sure the pilot light is not lit.
Checking the calibration parameters of your display
The default screen calibration files (icc.profiles) are set to a strange / warm color. Click Start and type “View” and open the display settings in the control panel. Click on “Show adapter properties”. Click on the third tab “Color Management” in the window that opens. In this window, click on Advanced at the top of the third tab. Click on the calibration screen at the bottom of the screen. Simply continue to click Next and Skip Brightness Settings on the 5th page to get only the default calibration settings. Click Finish at the end to generate the new color profile. The display must now be set to a cooler “color temperature” with a truer white. If the screen color does not change, you may need to return to the Devices tab in Color Management and manually add the newly created icc.profile setting and “select as default”.
Adding a new default color profile
- Adding a new default color profile can also correct a yellow-tinted screen. First, enter the keyword “Color Management” in the Cortana search field.
- Select Color Management to open the snapshot window directly below.
- Select your screen from the Device drop-down menu.
- Select the Use my settings option for this device.
- Click on the Add button to open the window below.
- Select the model profile of the sRGB virtual device in the Color Profile window and press the OK button.
- Then select the sRGB virtual device model profile from the Color Management window and click the
- Set as Default Profile button.
Cancel the installation of new software
Check if you have recently installed any new software. This is especially true if you have recently started to see your surface screen turn yellow. In particular, reader or e-reader software has a special reading mode that turns off dangerous blue light while yellow has prevalence, giving the screen a yellowish tint.
If so, check the software settings to see if there is a way to disable the yellow light. Or, in the worst case, uninstall the software yourself if your desire to turn off the yellow light is greater than the need to have the software at all.
