Facebook Messenger, the company’s chat program, was removed from the mobile Facebook application in 2011 before the social network removed the chat feature from the main application in 2014. As with other third-party applications, you can remove it from your phone with a few clicks.
Unlike a Windows desktop program, the Facebook application does not appear in the list of programs in the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel. To delete the application from your computer, delete it from the Windows 8.1 home screen. Instead of deleting the application, you may also consider logging out of Facebook or changing the settings in the Application Settings menu to avoid intrusive notifications and updates.

Below you will find instructions for the different versions of Windows. In some cases, adware programs are protected by malicious services or processes and you are not allowed to uninstall them. If Facebook Chat Messenger does not uninstall or displays an error message indicating that you do not have enough rights to do so, follow these instructions in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Network.
Although it is possible to delete the Facebook application from your computer, anyone can access Facebook from your web browser. To prevent some users from accessing the site, add the Facebook URL to Microsoft Family Safety – a native program and a site that manages the activities of your computer users – Allow or Block List. To activate Microsoft Family Safety, open the Accounts section of the PC Settings menu, then select the account you want to manage.
