The really shocking news that is circulating today is that some of the most commonly used and authentic password managers for Windows 10, such as 1Password, KeePass, LastPass, RoboForm, and Dashlane, contain security vulnerabilities. Even greater errors have been discovered in the master password, which secures all other passwords.
These security breaches were discovered by The Missing Link’s security researchers in Australia and the Canonical team. They found that these password managers disclose passwords in the computer’s memory, even if these applications or websites are blocked.
A password manager is an application, device or cloud service that stores your passwords in an encrypted vault that can only be unlocked with your unique master password. Most password managers can also create complex random passwords for the websites and applications you visit, and you don’t even need to know these passwords to use them.

Suppose an attacker has installed a keystroke logging program on a computer and recorded the user’s main password. The attacker can then access the password manager vault and compromise the user’s accounts in all locations.
Protecting all your passwords with a single master key is not the best idea because it can create a single point of failure. However, many password managers offer two-factor authentication, where access to the password vault also requires a unique code sent by SMS or generated by an application such as Google Authenticator. Make sure that the password manager you have chosen has this function and enable it.
Even if you use a password manager, it is a good idea to enable two-factor authentication (sometimes called two-level verification) for all your online accounts that offer it. An extra protective layer never hurts.
