Microsoft today announced the release of applications for the Windows Phone and iPhone platform that allow users to interact very comfortably with SkyDrive. The cloud storage service has now decided to offer its Microsoft and non-Microsoft users a different way to access and share files by providing SkyDrive applications for Windows Phone and iPhone to complement SkyDrive.com’s existing mobile interface.
The application allows you to manage, upload, download and share files without using the service’s HTML5 web application. In addition to sharing, the application also allows users to choose whether to edit a particular shared file or simply view it from other files.
Windows Phone 7.5 mango users can share photos stored on SkyDrive via email, text or instant messaging, use desktop applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint with SkyDrive files, and even automatically update the camera roll from their phone to SkyDrive.
For iPhone, the application will be available in 32 languages worldwide. In addition to their OneNote laptops, iPhone customers have access to all their files in SkyDrive. You can create folders, delete files and share links to folders/files directly from the email application.
Windows Phone SkyDrive App :
- Browse your entire SkyDrive, including files shared with you
- View recently used documents
- Share a link to any file by email
- Create folders. Delete files or folders
SkyDrive currently offers 25GB free space and is available to anyone with a Hotmail, Messenger and Windows Live ID. New users must log in to SkyDrive.com to download files from their PC or Mac and access them on their mobile phone.
Telephones with Windows Phone 7.5 or higher can now download the SkyDrive application for free from the Windows Phone Marketplace. For iOS devices from version 4.0 SkyDrive can be downloaded from the iTunes.app Store.
