Mozilla Firefox has always been a popular alternative browser, although its popularity has declined slightly since the introduction of Chrome. It is the common experience of many Firefox users that the browser slows considerably over time. Loading can be time consuming and overall speed can also be affected.
Firefox has greatly improved memory consumption and browser usage – but it still makes you want more. In fact, some even preferred Mozilla’s Memory Restart or Memory Fox add-ons – and even considered disabling the slower Firefox add-ons.
Here are some free tools that will help you optimize Firefox and its memory and charge and faster.
Firemin is a tool that uses a secure API function called EmptyWorkingSet. It forces the Firefox process to use less memory and also asks Firefox to return part of the system memory to which it is attached.
To use Firemin, download the Firemin.exe file, unzip it and run Firemin.exe from the extracted folder. Set the options as desired.
Move the slider to the left so that Firefox uses less memory. The further to the left you move, the more processing power is needed. It might be a good idea to keep the values at their default values and see how it works in the beginning.
Firemin also compresses Firefox SQLite databases. To do this, click the Optimize Firefox option.
Firefox Booster is a simple little application that speeds up your Mozilla Firefox browser. You simply choose one of the three connection types (Fast, Medium, Slow), which is symbolized by the image of the car. Firefox Booster will then adapt the current Mozilla Firefox browser configuration to your Internet connection.
Firefox uses SQLite databases to store many of its parameters. With time, the databases grow and Firefox starts to work slowly. SpeedyFox compresses these databases without data loss. Databases are optimized to work faster and are scaled by SpeedyFox. This tool also supports Skype, Chrome, Mozilla Thunderbird profiles!
Firefox Preloader is a utility designed to load parts of Mozilla Firefox into memory before it is used to improve its boot time.
