Microsoft Teams Can’t Download Files using Desktop App

At a time when the Internet is bringing us closer together, no matter how far apart we are, the way we interact with our colleagues has also changed. For example, there is special software called Collaborative Software that helps teams connect with each other.

One such collaboration tool is Microsoft Teams, and it includes every tool you can imagine, including instant chat, video conferencing, file transfer and more.

This problem seems to be quite widespread, and many solutions have been tried, some with varying degrees of success.

Clearing the Microsoft Team Client Cache

But the problem is actually in the client’s cache. Removing the cache is therefore the first step in troubleshooting. The problem is that the team’s cache is not at a location or even in a directory. It is divided into multiple directories and even Internet Explorer and Chrome cache locations. So if you get help emptying the cache, there are about 13 different places where you will need to clean the computer.

Only after these slots have been removed is a clean start for the Teams Apps considered.

Change the browser in which you open Microsoft Teams.

As you may know, you need an Internet browser to start Microsoft Teams, and it will usually use the one you set as the default browser.

However, if you find that you are having problems downloading with your current browser, simply download it and try using another browser until it works.

Note: Microsoft teams have been shown to have the least problems with Internet Explorer or Edge, so try them first.

Team and SharePoint “file” Permissions

It is important to remember that the Files tab is available and that it is mandatory for each channel of a team to be connected to the file store in SharePoint. The files for each channel are stored in a folder in the Document Library of the SharePoint site that each team supports.

Owners and members have the ability to share permissions on any file or page – the entire site collection – with anyone in the organization. This means that all files stored or shared within a team are subject to SharePoint’s sharing and permission rules.

In addition, files from private chats in One Drive For Business of the users who sent them are stored in a “Team Chat Files” folder before being shared with other users in the chat.

Make sure you have permissions to download the files.

Some users have indicated that although they cannot upload files from their own team, they can upload files from other people. So try to make sure you have all the necessary permissions, including the ability to upload files.
