Administrative Manual for Microsoft Windows 10 IPsec VPN Client
Finally, there is an administrative guide for evaluating Microsoft Windows 10 Common Criteria VPN Client IPsec. As above, the manual provides many links to TechNet and other Microsoft resources. These are mainly the administration of the Windows Firewall (Windows Filtering Platform) and instructions to meet the following common criteria : SFR – Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) Communications (FCS_IPSEC_EXT.1.1.1).
The document stresses that the Windows filtering platform is configured to automatically start and should never be disabled to support any of the IPsec scenarios described. The Windows filtering platform is the
IPsec Security Policy Database (SPD) for Windows 10 and the IPsec rules in the Windows filtering platform are entries in the SPD. Ideally, the Windows filtering platform can be configured to use input and output rules that protect, bypass, reject or allow traffic defined by the input and output rules. A link is provided to help the user configure the Windows firewall and IPsec policy. It mainly explains the priority when applying firewall rules.
