Make sure the domain name has fully propagated. If it has not you may either connect via IP or wait for propagation to take place.

Configure Firewall Settings

Start Firewall Manually

You have a firewall. The firewall may be causing this error. Configure your firewall software to grant access to the Internet for the following files.

  • For Outlook Express: Msimn.exe
  • For Outlook: Outlook.exe
  • By default, most e-mail clients have to have outbound access on port 110 and inbound access on port 25.

  2. In the “open” box, type “Control Panel“
  3. If you are in Classic view, double click Mail.
  4. If you are in Category view, click “switch to classic view” and then double click mail
  5. In the Mail setup dialog box that opens, click “Show profiles“
  6. On the general tab, under “When starting Microsoft Office Outlook“, use this profile, click Prompt for a profile to be used, and then click Add.
  7. In the “Profile Name“, type the name you want to have for this particular account and click OK
  8. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  9. Click the appropriate server type for your new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  10. Type your account information in the required boxes, and then click Next.
  11. Click Finish, and then click OK.

Creating a fresh, new account will ensure that you have correctly entered the account details. You can now send yourself a test message to see if the error returns. If the error has returned it generally means that you have something blocking the applications access to the Internet.
