It’s amazing how often you find yourself in a situation where you need to change or modify the data of a file or folder, such as the creation date, the last modification date or the last access date! I’m not really going to ask WHY someone should do this, but from my own experience I have found it very convenient in certain circumstances.

Changing the date of a file is actually quite complicated if you try to do it yourself, but luckily there are some really cool free applications that let you do the job quickly and easily. I’ll quickly go through three different applications that all do pretty much the same thing, but I’d rather mention more than less if one of them doesn’t work. read more

Microsoft Edge has a page zoom feature that you can configure by clicking More (the icon that displays three documents) or by using Ctrl + mouse like any other browser. Edge does not retain the zoom factor setting for individual Web sites.

However, Google Chrome retains the zoom settings for individual web pages, and you can choose the default zoom level.

If you don’t use the zoom feature in Edge, you can disable zooming through the registry to prevent accidental zooming with Ctrl + mouse scroll, pinch, and zoom in/out (for touch devices). You can also preset the zoom factor (default) before locking the feature. read more

The “Sorry this profile can’t connect to Xbox Live on this console” error is displayed when the user tries to play a backwards compatible Xbox360 game on an Xbox One console. For all users, the Xbox Live membership works as normal, as they can play Xbox Gold card games and use the online features without any problems. This problem seems to be limited to backwards compatible games that are launched on the Xbox One console (they can be played without any problem on the Xbox360).

Check the status of the Xbox Live servers

Before moving on to other repair strategies, it is important to start with this troubleshooting guide and make sure the problem is not beyond your control. Want to easily print comments when using Google Docs? There is an extension for that! If you’re assigning a request or writing project to students in Google Docs, it would be a good idea to print it with all the markers.

There are certainly times when this might be useful, especially for special education or primary school students. There are also times when I want to print out all the comments someone has made to me on a document.

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a standard application protocol used by Windows Server Active Directory (AD) to maintain directory services. Client devices and applications authenticate to the AD using LDAP “binding” operations. Simple LDAP binding involves sending user credentials in plain text over the network. This means that there is no encryption of the user name and password. Although the DA supports simple binding, it is not a recommended approach.

Applications that use simple LDAP bindings should be upgraded to use Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) bindings that support characters and seals (verification/integrity and encryption) instead. Applications that cannot be upgraded can use LDAP over TLS, sometimes called LDAPS, but implementation and maintenance is more complex. read more

This feature is best suited for shorter documents, such as newspaper articles or school essays.
