Open the image of your choice.Make sure it’s RGB (not Indexed), of course. Go to layers>transparency>add alpha channel.

Getting started

Before we start this tutorial, your going to need the Light bulb stock photo I found off sxc.hu But I already cut it out so you can download it here.

Step 1

Open a new 1024×768 image. Grab the Blend tool, change your foreground color to 73aeff and background to black. then in the tools options set your Gradient to FG-BG(RGB) and shape to Radial.

Now apply the blend tool from top center to the bottom of your canvas to get a nice radial background *tip hold down CTRL to get a straight line when applying. read more

Getting Started

The first thing that must be done is to find a picture. I found one on google with a nice camera. To use it

Okay, once you open a picture, right-click on the first layer and select “Add Alpha Channel.”

Step Two

Insert a Quick Mask (or press Shift+Q). The screen should turn red. Now, use the eraser tool and erase the red over the camera.

Then press the Quick mask button again (or Shift+Q) and you should see the camera selected. read more

Remember a while back one of our forum members asked how to engrave text in GIMP, well this GIMP tutorial will show you how.

The technique is quite simple once you learn how its done, so lets get started.

Step 1

Create a new image and fill the background layer with Brown 382600, looks allot like chocolate 🙂 .

Select the Text tool and type in some text, you can use what ever font you wish i chose a free font called Tondo or maagkramp font

Graffiti Tutorial

A friend of mine requested that i make a simple yet cool Vista style button tutorial for gimp, so here is what i came up with.

The Story
Ever since i started using Gimp 5 months ago i was annoyed by the fact we couldn’t use the lovely themes available to linux based users.
then the other day i noticed how Gimphoto.com had gotten GTK which runs Linux themes for numerous Os’s/applications including gimp, so i did a few google searches, and it turns out that its nothing new just not many know about it, Alexander Shaduri from gtk-win.sourceforge.net/ has compiled GTK and its Preference Tool to run under windows operating systems for a while now. read more
