I have been using Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery for a long time, but unfortunately the Windows Live Essentials that were later named Windows Essentials(16) were removed from my PC during formatting – and now that they are no longer supported, they are no longer available for download from Microsoft. Backup Troubleshooting Failure & Event ID 12293 under Windows Vista

Microsoft has released a patch to fix a problem that causes backups to fail and records Event ID 12293 on a computer running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.

If you try to perform a backup on a computer running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, the backup stops immediately after startup and the next event is recorded in the application log:

Source : VSS
Message : Volume Shadow Copy Service Error: Error when calling a routine on a dummy copy provider.

To restart your PC : Stop / r

The list of stop options includes :

/ ? Display Help This is the same as if you do not enter any options.
This must be the first option.
Close the session. This cannot be used with /m or /d options.
Turn off the computer.
Stopping and restarting the computer.
Complete computer shutdown and restart. After rebooting the system, restart all registered applications.
Cancel a system shutdown. This function can only be used during the delay period.
Turn off the local computer without waiting time or warning. Can be used with /d and /f options.
Can be used with the /f option.
Must be used with option /s.
Document the reason for the unexpected computer shutdown.
Go to the’Advanced Boot Options’ menu and restart the computer.
The valid range is 0-315360000 (10 years), with a default of 30
