Run commands from the Windows search box Start as administrator

We like to use the command line tool to perform certain functions. It is very easy to use. We also use the field Windows Search field in menu Start or Start screen, depending on the operating system. Too many system recovery points can slow down the boot of Windows 7

If you notice that your Windows 7 or Windows Server2008 R2 starts rather slowly, you can among others check the number of system recovery points on your computer.

You may have created many system restore points manually. If this is the case, it could extend the Windows 7 boot time.

The reason is :

Volsnap.sys is a system file that is found both in the C:WindowsSystem32 driver and in the C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository repository.

ReadyBoot (Not ReadyBoost) is a boot acceleration technology that maintains an in-RAM cache used to maintain disk readings faster than a slower storage medium such as a drive. ReadyBoot reads (pre-extract) the data into the cache before it is requested. Pre-extraction optimizes disk access patterns based on disk location and characteristics. Read Requests from system processes, services and user applications are then served from ReadyBoot RAM cache. read more

Understand how Hyper-V works under Windows 8 / 10

The Windows 8 User’s Guide indicates that Windows 8 supports the client Hyper-V. What is Hyper-V? Well Hyper-V represents hypervisor-based virtualization. Maybe Hyper-V was part of two earlier versions of Windows. Microsoft now plans to integrate it with the client operating system by integrating this service with Windows 8. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Yes, that’s true.

Let me explain step by step how this works.

Introduction : Microsoft Hyper-V Client is a flexible, robust and powerful client virtualization technology that enables IT professionals and developers to run multiple operating system instances simultaneously on their Windows 8 computer. This reduces costs by consolidating hardware and increasing efficiency through VM (Virtual Machine) compatibility with the Hyper-V server. Hyper-V is not only for programmers and developers – all Windows 8 end users can also benefit. read more

Yes ! Windows 7 is unable to burn 46 GB of data to a dual layer BD-R disc or 23 GB to a single layer BD-R disc in Master mode – the process fails and the following error message appears.

If you try, you will get an error message :

The disc has not been burned successfully. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed for your CD or DVD burner, then try again.

Why this happens

Because Windows 7 does not correctly calculate the write capability of BD-R if the data exceeds these values.

Outlook.exe remains in memory after Outlook closes and the Task Manager

In this article, I will share these possible patches.

Outlook.exe remains in memory

In most cases, I saw a security suite like Kaspersky, Norton 360, etc. as a culprit. Each security software has an anti-spam plugin, and sometimes Outlook.exe is suspended. In such cases, you can try disabling the add-in and see if it works. I would suggest using OfficeIns to disable add-ins because it is much easier than disabling add-ins from the Outlook add-ins manager.

You can download OfficeIns from Nirsoft. Close Outlook Make sure it does not work in Task Manager. Then open OfficeIns. Select the add-in and right-click it. You will find an option called Change Start Mode and select Disabled then select Change Connect Mode and select No. Once the add-in is disabled, open Outlook and test it. read more
