Most Windows 8 users now know how to pin or undo boot screen tile shortcuts for Windows Store applications. But it is a little known fact that you can even display the internal sections or content of some Windows 8 applications directly on your home screen.
Take the example of the news application. When you open the news application, you will first see the local news. Scroll a little and you will see the national and then world news. If you are interested in World News, you must open the application, scroll down and click World News to view it. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just create a tile to open the world news directly?
Let’s see how to do this in Windows 8.
Axis of the startup screen, the tiles pointing directly to the content or section of Windows applications 8
Open the application News as usual by clicking on the tile on the startup screen. Scroll to the right to display the desired section. It could be entertainment or the world or something. For example, World News here. Click on World News.
Once the World News is open, right-click and select’Pin to Start’ in the bottom bar of the application. You can even give it any name in the pop-out.
When you click Pin to Start, the World Messages tile is attached to your Windows 8 Home screen.
The next time you want to read the World News, click on this tile to go directly to the World News section of the News application. This allows you to select specific people from the address book, email folders and other application content or subsections.
Check other applications where possible and share them here for the benefit of others.
