It seems that the current update of Windows 10 1809 features for some people does not work well with Windows Explorer. Many users complain that the Explorer text is not white, while others report that Windows Explorer is still in too white a mode. Some users have even reported that the drop-down dialog boxes are almost invisible. Although this may be a bug in the operating system, you can try these suggestions and see if it fixes this dark mode that doesn’t work for you in the Explorer problem.
For the File Explorer to work properly, you must have Windows October 10, 2018 Update (version 1809) on your PC. Although you can assume that you have already installed it, it may not be. In fact, the update caused countless problems for many users at first, and Microsoft had to back down. Then, the company had to deploy step by step depending on the hardware configurations.
Using Mach2 to activate the dark theme (if applicable)
If you have already used the mach2 tool to get the black mode without updating your Windows 10 build to the latest version, you cannot repair it in a conventional way when a new update is launched.
However, there is a command that you can execute from the command prompt that activates the darkness theme again. But remember that the dark subject you are going to use is not the most recent in this case and tends to contain errors and problems.
Switch to the default theme
Windows 10 supports a variety of customization options and allows you to switch from one theme to another. Generally, these themes have their own color palette, and although these themes allow you to customize your Windows experience, they can sometimes cause problems.
Apparently, the dark theme is not available for the File Explorer unless you use the default theme. Several users confirmed this, and they said that the dark theme was available as soon as they switched to the default theme.
Restarting the dark mode
- Open the Application Settings.
- Go to Customization -> Colors:
- Scroll down to the “Select your default app mode” option. Activate the Dark option to activate the corresponding color scheme.
- The dark pattern is now reactivated.
Dark Theme for File Explorer is an excellent addition to Windows 10, but if the Dark Theme doesn’t work for you, the problem is most likely the missing updates. If your system is up to date and you are using the latest version of Windows 10, you should try all the other solutions offered in this article.
