Is your VPN blocked by your ISP, university, company or air firewall?
Encryption and bypass tools such as virtual private networks are used worldwide to share content and websites, but what about networks that actually block VPN traffic?
Fortunately, there are several techniques/tools that you can use to unlock your VPN service and regain full access. And even if your VPN can’t get through the firewall, we’ll show you our favorite’stealth VPNs’ who can!
How to bypass VPN blocks
Using a reliable VPN service that can bypass anti-VPN technology will always be the fastest and easiest way to bypass these blocks. You will find below our recommendations for the best VPNs. However, there are other methods that require more technical know-how than the use of a VPN, but that are still easy to implement.
Unlocking the ports
In this case, you will need administrator access, so read the previous part of this article if you skipped it. Once you are finished, or if you already have administrator privileges, there are basically four ways that an administrator can have blocked your USB ports, and we will quickly delete all four of them!
Method 1 – go to Start > Run and type regedit and press[Enter]. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR and click Start in the right pane and change the value to 3, then OK.
Method 2 – Simply check the Device Manager, as ports can also be disabled here. Right-click on a selected port and click Enable.
Method 3 – When your system administrator has gone further and completely uninstalled the USB drivers, simply plug your USB device back into the machine to start a search for the appropriate drivers and install them later.
Method 4 – Get a third party tool to activate the USB ports. Such tools are usually one-click solutions to enable/disable ports, and you can find good ones online.
Create an SSH tunnel
SSH (Secure SHell) tunnels are an intelligent way to add an encryption layer to data packets so that they can go unnoticed through VPN blocks. SSH is often used to securely transfer files from one computer to another, but the technology can easily be reused for regular online traffic. It is a little slower than other methods, but it is extremely effective.
To start with SSH tunnels, you need to do some research. It is easy to create an SSH tunnel for Linux and Mac, but Windows users need to make some additional configurations. Learn everything you need to create an SSH tunnel to hide your VPN traffic on any operating system.
