PC errors must be taken seriously. If you ignore these problems, you will encounter other problems over time. You can prevent this by showing the symptoms of errors and taking the necessary steps.
The normal process of your computer may be affected by poor system performance, the appearance of messages and terms in your installation log file such as 0x800703f1, in which case you should have the error corrected immediately.
Fix 1 – Disable antivirus software
Whether you are using Windows Defender or a third-party security solution, your antivirus program can cause the 0x800703f1 error.
If you are using a non-Microsoft product, check its manual and disable the software. If this works, you should contact the seller and report the problem.
If you have entrusted the security of your PC to Windows Defender, you can turn it off in Windows 10 as follows:
- Open the “Settings” application with the Windows logo and the “I” key combination.
- Go to the Update and Security section.
- Navigate to the left pane and select Windows Security.
- Then go to the right pane and select Open Windows Defender Security Center.
- Click Virus and Threat Protection. Then open the antivirus protection and threat protection settings.
- Disable real-time protection.
Fix 2 – Clean boot
If the problem persists, I recommend putting the computer in a clean boot state and checking if it helps. When you boot the system to a clean state, you can determine if the problem is caused by third-party applications or boot items.
A clean boot process is performed to boot Windows with a minimum of drivers and boot programs. This avoids software conflicts that occur when installing a program or an update or when running a program under Windows 10. You can also fix bugs or determine which conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

Fix 3 – Restart all Windows Update components
Depending on the user, this problem can sometimes be caused by Windows update components. To resolve this problem, you must manually restart all Windows Update components. You only need to execute a few commands at the command prompt. To do this, simply follow these steps :
Run the command prompt as administrator.
When the command prompt starts, execute the following commands:
Network shutdown wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc cryptSvc cryptSvc
Network shutdown bits
net stop msiserverver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2 Catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvSvc
Mains start bits
net start msiserverver
After running these commands, try running Windows Update again and see if the problem persists.
